Dutch Girl Becomes World Online Sudoku Champion

The winner in the world’s biggest Sudoku Championship ever is the 17-year old Aniek Huijsman from The Netherlands. After a remarkable performance she became the Online World Sudoku Champion at the live Final in London.

After the other finalists had been eliminated one by one, Aniek was joined in the final round by the 19-year old Polish contestant Jan Mrozowski. He tried to keep up-to-speed with the Dutch girl, but lost by 3-1 in matches.

Halfway into the final, the Swedish contestant Hans Edward Gennow had a strong lead, but lost his rhythm and finished at 4th place, distanced also by Raffael Buff from Switzerland who came third.

Aniek Huijsman is a student from Rotterdam and a scout leader for handicapped children. When she finish school she would like to continue to work with disabled children.

National qualifications in the Online World Sudoku Championship has taken place online with more than 400,000 matches, that finally led to the live World Championship Final.
